so I've been thinking of getting a motor cycle once I get my finances into something more managable
I've always wanted one. I'm thinking of using primarily for commuting to and from work and the occasional ride on the weekend. I figure for my big ass I am going to need at least a 500cc bike. I'd like a harley but I don't want to drop 7k where at least a third of that is for the nameplate. I was thinking of one of the smaller japanese regular to slightly cruiserish bikes.
So I've been looking around at what the various manufacturers have to offer and I came across this picture on the honda page and it made my dick hard.

If you want style, how 'bout a Super Magna? The '87 and '88 Honda Magna's were awesome looking bikes, IMO.

But first I have to get my finance situated. I am thinking of trying to get something off e-bay.

Date: 2005-01-20 11:11 pm (UTC)The Bandit may be a little fast for a Born Again Biker such as yourself. If I make it to Texas, I can let you try my Bandit 1200 if you want to scare the shit out of yourself. But even the 600 is mighty fast.
Either way, go ahead and sign up now for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course.
http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/msb/
They provide motorcycles and helmets, and if you pass the course you can get your motorcycle endorsement just by taking the written test at the DPS. And you get a discount on your insurance.
I took the MSF at the facility on Hwy 21 outside of San Marcos. It's a really nice set-up--a former traffic safety research site. A lot better than the parking lots most places use.
The classes fill up quickly. You should sign up now to take the class three months from now.
And buy a cheap old bike first. So, if you drop it you won't care too much.

And another thing
Date: 2005-01-20 09:51 pm (UTC)If you're talking the 883 Sportster, they're basically worth the money. A new Shadow or a Vulcan will cost you just as much. However HD quality is still sub-Japanese, and insurance can be expensive.

Date: 2005-01-21 08:28 am (UTC)it oozes power... I'm not sure that it would be a good thing for Minnesota, as it would be caged for half the year.
