Behold, 2 backbone providers are having a pissing match.

Level 3 and Cogent are no longer peering with each other because level 3 thinks they got the short end of the stick.

This is causing some havoc on the net, mail not getting where it is supposed to, some web site unavailable, someone people can't network with others.

I have a certain amount of sympathy for level 3 getting screwed, but the fact they couldn't find a more mature way to handle things so people didn't get screwed is not what I expect from a corporation I would do business with.

All circuits are busy...

Yeah, I saw it mentioned on slashdot, and when to check the Internet Health Report. Lookit the pretty red color! Stupid people. I heard that Level 3 wasn't getting screwed so much as Cogent was pricing services lower and Level 3 is trying to manipulate things to keep prices up.

Can the users whack them on the wrists and take their toys away?

My thought is that if everyone who was hosting on their backbones (both sides) called them and said "you have one hour to cease or I walk" and then did it after they called your bluff, this shit would end QUICK.

My husband's company uses msn to access between Houston and New York offices and they can't get to each other right now.

Children running companies suck.
