Condi's been spending the last week on a nice vacation & shopping in new york.
A woman came up and asked her what the hell she was doing shopping for shoues when thousands are suffering and dying.
So condi has security toss her out of the store.

Not even vaguely objective, but interesting none-the-less

Date: 2005-09-02 05:06 pm (UTC)i am so sorry.
Don't get me started, Litch:Condi has FORGOTTEN THAT SHE'S BLACK! GRRRRRRR!
Date: 2005-09-02 10:49 pm (UTC)Excuse me, but why are white folks dancing around some straight up TRUE issues about what has gone down, esp. in New Orleans? I'm trying not to sound like a person who hates white people, but right now I can say that the way black folks are watching the news is,perhaps, very DIFFERENT from how the average white person is watching what's going down [don't know if you saw my journal entry from a sleepless night where I just surfed on the Times Picayune message board and read some of the MOST RACIST SHIT I've EVER seen in my life that, indeed, seems to explains the President and the federal government's behavior.
Bottomline: when shit happens to poor people and especially poor people of COLOR (whether they be black, white, hispanic or polka dot) this government and the American people send the message of, "WHO CARES?" That's why I got to value white folks like Endora who gives me some hope and faith that not all white people are demons (like any number of Muslims, and esp. black Muslims would love to argue. Indeed, I understand Muslim extremists are having A FIELD DAY with the news reports from La., so as to point out what too many black folks already know: this country's leadership could care less about what happens to poor blacks.
Now, Ms. Condi represents the type of black person who has forgotten that she's black. Don't get me started on her. She should know better, but in case anyone out there doesn't "get it" I might start with the Time magazine cover article on Kanye West (MY BAD ASS BOY! Loved his performance this morning with "Diamonds are forever . .. Sierre Leone". Can't wait to get his latest CD "Late Registration" as soon as it's out. Kanye is ALL THAT! He says (and all black folks who are HONEST knows he ain't lying:) " Black people can be the most conservative, the most discriminating. Especially among ourselves."
Now think of this quote whenever you think of Condi Rice and black people. Indeed, consider a front page headline in The African-American (a black newspaper, obviously. . .don't know if you white folks keep up with the "black press" ) : "Is Condi Black?"
I held that newspaper up one day for my students and we had a most interesting debate about the CONNOTATION and DENOTATION of what it means, truly, to be an AFRICAN-AMERICAN.
Gotta go. I've got the amazing poet, Brian Russel in front of me to say hello. Brian is a classmate who recently won an Academy of American Poets Prize and I need to congratulate him for that NOW. Gotta to return to what my writing should be about too.
