It's time for me to get a new couch. I'm thinking of this one:

What do you think?

I want a microfiber couch, prefer a dark color (red ideally), long enough a 6' tall man can sleep on it, sturdy enough I can fuck a fat chick on, and not too low to the floor.

There are a hell of a lot of couches for sale on craigslist, and it's stunning how badly people are at advertising. Some don't include picture and a some of th ones who do include lousey pictures, they don't include dimensions, don't put a common object on it for perspective. They just say couch and usually some unrealistic valuation.

There are not a lot of female politicians. To the point that new democracies set aside a certain portion of the possible positions to women. One thing that often gets pointed out to america when we start going on about womens rights is that we have one of the lowest percentage of female legislators in the world. The brookings institute did a paper on why they think this is the case. Some of the feminist blogs are pissed about it, because they read the paper as saying women are not ambitious enough.

The paper points out that when women do run they tend to raise a similar amount of money and get the same sort of votes as men who run. This argues that women aren't facing any particular institutional barrier.

The feminist blogs objecting to that (like echidne and feministing) come off as kind of whiney to me. They mention the some of the barriers they see but I don't see them as peculiar to women.
