watched the joanathan demme remake of The Manchurian Candidate last night, it was decidedly disturbing (well, I didn't like the ending) but there is something about the fundamental story that dips into an artery of paranoia in the american psyche

not like we need to be encouraged to feel paranoid about government and corporations (or to be more succinct, power), it's not to tough convince some dumb monkey there's something big and scarey out there in the dark that wants to eat him
