Someone in my friends list posted a link to this Salon story about the discommodiousness of MDMA and talked about what they didn't likeabout it.
I never really liked MDMA, at least not as much as many of my friends.
I kept doing stupid things I regretted after I came down; hitting on people that I knew had no interest and whom quite honestly I had no interest in, being emotionally open with people who I knew were not trustworthy, that sort of lapses in judgement.
Nor did I seem to gain the insights from the MDMA experiences that I found in LSD, Mushrooms, or even marijuana experiences. The psychedelic experience is like riding lightning, taking part in the Great Hunt, so much and so powerful things happen that when you wake the day after (or sometimes the day after that) you forget almost everything, except for the few grains of value and truth that remain in your psyche the rest dissolve into time and memories that aren't yours. But those grains are earthshakingly powerful, often worth the pain and fear that those wild rides take you through. But not so with MDMA, the rides were almost always much more pleasent, but the residue was no solid elemental remainder, it was at best a mushy emotional resonance to a beatific state. A sort of clap hard to make tinkerbell come back to life sore of thing.
And on the down side there are a number of factors reccomending against the drug. There is evidence that that cluster of drugs cause permanent cerebral structural changes. More dissuasive is the ease and commonality with which a pill can be adulterated, 150 mg leaves room for a Lot of random garbage, and the pricepoint and nature of MDMA formulation makes it very conducive to concoct poorly or throw in random goo. Not to mention it makes it next to impossible for me to get a good hardon!
