Nov. 24th, 2003 07:17 amI saw on a website (I think SciFi Weekly) that Lois McMaster Bujold had a new fantasy novel out. She's one of my favorite writers and so I decided to read more about it and noting the publisher (EOS) went to thier website to read about it.
That was a mistake, that has to be one of the worst, least useful websites I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. Links don't go where you think they should (e.g. there is a picture of the cover of a novel, Contact Imminant by Kristine Smith, that is a link, but if you click on it it takes you to a page about an entirely differnt novel & author), they don't have thier genre authors easily sorted, they don't have an easy way to sort author's works, it's all in all a piece of crap.
This is kind of suprising, Harper-Collins (the people who own EOS) is one of the larger publishing houses in the country, but then I remember, Harper-Collins is a subsidiary of Newscorp, Rupert Murdoch's bloated media empire and it all becomes clear. They have the same dedication to production values Fox news (another newscorp production) has to accuracy and balance.
