A moderately Successful Birthday Party
Aug. 4th, 2003 11:09 amMy 35th birthday party went fairly well, turnout was a little light (~20) for my leonine tendancies but all of good quality. We wound up not getting all the cleaning done we wanted to as early as we wanted to and wound up a bit frantic the morning of the party.
gev really came to our aid and help finish up the last of party cleaning. No real raucousness ensued, I was the most inebriated attendee (which I suppose is fitting), but that's par for the course for afternoon parties.
The dogs were a bit rambunctious, especially at the begining when people came to the door but the work I've been doing to settle them down during greetings may be starting to show some results. The most obnoxious thing was Saladin's annoucement bellowing barks which I thought were going to make Marina pee her pants.
Lots of food, though I didn't get things really going on the grill until most of the OTO folk left. I made a complete mess of the chicken wings, burned on the outside, raw inside.
jessaries 7-layer dip seemed popular.
sadraele, following the theme, bought me a monkey (stuffed).
circusavatar made me a nifty gift bag of sparklers, candy, bubbles, and cascaronnes (which I promptly used to inflict blunt force trauma on several people's heads).
jher and
artemiskalliste brought me a nifty fish spatula (which could substitute as a orc battle axe in a pinch) and an olofactory orgasm inducing meat rub. Got ticket to geek mannaland (Frys) from
jonabbey and Nifty multitool from
sheilagh
The most suprising moment of the evening was the unexpected presence of
ce_luna and Mike from the big easy.
The most popular answer to "What would you do if you had a million dollars" was travel, followed very closely by securing a house. It's kinda interesting how such which seem to contradict each other are so prominant.
