Look on the bottom. I mean the part that is parallel to the floor. There may be an alan wrench socket there. Sounds like you may have something jamming it. Using an alan wrench in that socket you can check to see if it's a problem related to that or a wiring issue itself. Jammings can cause shorts on the units.
